Lead ML Engineer - Toronto Office
ABOUT THE ROLE
Location: Toronto

The Lead ML Engineer role sits within the Data Science function at Filament AI, and will be based in our Toronto office. The Lead ML Engineer plays a crucial role in our mission to enable applied artificial intelligence by overseeing the delivery of custom ML solutions. As a Lead ML Engineer, you’ll work on:
- Leading the development of machine learning products and models from inception to production
- Collaborating with cross functional, agile teams of data scientists, software engineers, and project managers in solving business problems
- Consulting clients on project feasibility through prototyping with respect to performance, time, quality and cost
- Communicating complex concepts and results from feasibility studies to non-technical stakeholders
- Implementing best practices to improve internal processes within the ML unit
- Participating in marketing initiatives such as publishing blogs, speaking at conferences and technical talks
THE SKILLS YOU'LL NEED
- Degree in a discipline such as: Data Science, Applied Maths, Applied Science, Engineering or related area
- Advanced knowledge of ML models in one or more of the following domains: deep learning, reinforcement learning, NLP, and time-series analysis
- Hands-on experience and expertise with different AI/ML frameworks such as Keras, Pytorch, TensorFlow, SparkML, Scikit-Learn
- Stay abreast of new technology and techniques in the ML/AI space
- Advanced Python development skills
- Excellent code design (OOP, Algorithms, and Data Structures)
- Experience with SQL and database systems
- Hands-on experience defining and operationalizing ML models into production systems
- Demonstrated experience with database technologies (e.g. Hadoop, BigQuery, Amazon EMR, Hive, Oracle, SAP, DB2, Teradata, MS SQL Server, MySQL).
- Quick learner with ability to think out of the box
- Skilled communicator with a proven record of leading projects across disciplines
THE EXPERIENCE WE'D LIKE YOU TO HAVE
- Prior experience working at a consultancy
- Prior experience working in a leadership role
- Good understanding of financial services industry
